It's a fairly simple process.
1) Get the full transcript into a document editing program.
2)
Start researching. Lots of people do that already, so I
leveraged a lot of published articles online. (Many thanks to various
journalist sites).
3) Any factual statements are
highlighted green, and any lies are highlighted red. To be as fair as
possible, the standards for facts/lies is kept as high as possible.
More on this on a separate page.
4) Save two copies (one
for each candidate). For each candidate, strip out everything from the
moderator and the other candidate. Also remove speaker identifiers such as "HOLT: " and audience reactions like "(LAUGHTER)", leaving behind only the words said by the candidate.
5)
Use the View -> Zoom feature to make everything as small as
possible (approximately 20%). Also turn off the display of text boundaries and comments
(which hold the references for each highlighted section of text). Page margins were also reduced to .35" on each border.
6) Arrange the size of the document window so that the view of the entire transcript takes up a width of 4 pages.
7) Make a screenshot. For uniformity, edit the images to have a width of 400 pixels. Make a combined image as needed for site layout purposes.
